March 14th 2010, we arrived home from church, to recieve the news that Mike's Dad (Thomas Lavoie) had passed away. There was shock, sadness, and tears.
Traveling home to Ontario to say our last goodbyes, we had no idea how are children would handle all the sadness, and talk of death. The kids were wonderful, they were so happy to see their Grandma, aunts, uncles, and cousins, but didn't really understand where Grandpa was. They had the oportunity to see their Grandpa one last time, all the kids knew that it was his body, but they knew that he was no longer there. They knew that he was back with Heavenly Father.
Over the past year we have talked alot about Grandpa, missing him, and remembering him. I am grateful for my father in law, in my eyes he was a great man, who wanted to follow Christ, and tried to the best of his ability. Our 3 youngest children will only have the memories that we keep alive!
My life has been forever changed because of his life.
He will always be missed, till we meet again!
I can't believe it has been a year already. I only met Tom a couple of times and didn't really know him but I am thankful for the great man that he was and his influence in raising a great son who happens to be a great Brother-in-law and super awesome uncle!
